Q
Does the Cooler Outrigger make a canoe more stable?
If used properly, the Cooler Outrigger provides a significant amount of stability.  The outrigger provides stability first through weight distribution (like a tight rope walker carrying a pole).  The more weight in the coolers the more stable your boat will be.  If the boat is tilted one way or the other the coolers then provide buoyancy and greatly reduce the chance of a turn over.
Q
Does the outrigger come with coolers?
The Cooler Outrigger includes two (2) 48 quart white Wingman Outfitter branded coolers manufactured in the United States by Rubbermaid. Reviews for this cooler can be seen here.
Q
Can I use my own coolers?
Our frame is designed to fit the 48 quart Rubbermaid Victory cooler only.  This cooler is available in other colors at Lowes and other online retailers.
Q
What happens when a cooler hits a rock?
The coolers are designed to ride several inches out of the water and you are able to raise and lower the coolers by leaning away or towards objects in the water.  Leaning, which generally happens naturally, allows you to ride the cooler over the rocks or under branches.  The coolers are very durable and in thousands of miles we have yet to hit a rock and damage a cooler beyond use.
Q
Does the Cooler Outrigger create drag and slow you down?
Although this product is not ideal for racing a canoeing across flat water into a headwind, drag is generally not an issue.  When paddling in flat water it is helpful to keep your weight even to keep the coolers riding above water.
Q
Can the coolers be raised or lowered?
Rising the coolers can be achieved by placing a pool noodle or any type of elevator between the gunwale of the canoe and outrigger frame.
Q
Will the Cooler Outrigger frame attach to my canoe?
The outrigger will attach to any canoe.  If you are in a smaller canoe you can attach the outrigger closer to the front of the boat and anchor it back to the center with a couple cam straps so that it does not hinder the stroke of the paddler in the stern seat.
Q
How does the Cooler Outrigger frame attach to the boat?
We use  2500 lb ratchet straps that wrap under the boat. This has been a successful method for thousands of miles of testing and allows the frame to be attached to any canoe and many kayaks.
Q
Does the product break down for transport and storage?
Yes, the frame breaks down to approximately 42 inches x 24 inches x 4 inches.
Q
How much does the Cooler Outrigger frame weigh?
Shipping weight of the frame is 30lbs.  Each empty cooler adds about 8 pounds however, when on the boat the more weight in the coolers the more stable your boat will be.
Q
Can the frame be extended while on the water?
It may be easier to pull the boat to shore to extend the frame, however it can be adjusted while on the water.
Q
Will a Cooler Outrigger frame attach to a raft/ducky?
Yes, the Cooler Outrigger is compatible with any inflatable that is no wider than 54 inches.  We suggest contacting us to discuss the functionality prior to purchase.
Q
Where is the Cooler Outrigger manufactured?
Manufacturing and assembly is completed in Roanoke, VA and all materials used in manufacturing are sourced from companies within the United States.
Q
Is anyone else making a similar product?
No, the Cooler Outrigger design is exclusive to Wingman Outfitter and is patent pending.
Q
Can you ship outside of the United States?
Not at this time as shipping out of the US is unrealistic considering the fees.  However, we are working to offer shipping to Canada in 2017.
Q
What accessories do you offer at this time?
We currently offer the following accessories:  1. Extension platforms that increases usable deck space  2. Table leg adapters that turn your outrigger in to a waist high 42'x24'' camping table.  More to come!
